Exactly what do you sell?
Solutions involving computer software. That solution could be to fix your badly-behaving database or to write a custom computer program to solve your specific need. It could be as simple as a recommendation to purchase an off-the-shelf product that fits your needs. It could be as complicated as a formal analysis and report on how you need to change your software development process to improve productivity.
Do you sell off-the-shelf products?
We try to fit the best solution to your problem. Part of our solution may be a recommendation to purchase a product, but we make no money on it's sale. The recommendation is based solely on your needs. When you visit our Products page, you will see that what is offered there are building blocks of proven solutions to problems. We MAY combine these building blocks to create the correct solution, if it is the right solution for you.
Do you make web sites?
Yes and no. While we provide solutions for web sites, we aren't in the business of designing web sites. We work with many talented people who design web sites and provide superior graphic and marketing services. (Visit our Links page to see them.) What we do best is enhance the web site design by adding backend content. Our strength is in features like on-line credit card processing, on-line catalogs, and secure logins. If you don't want to invest the time of locating a web designer, we can help you by getting you in contact with some of the best.
What kind of experience do you have?
We have over 20 years of experience of custom software development, installation and service for a Fortune 100 company. We have a wide range of design and development skills in areas such as on-line GUIs, database structuring and repair, reliable high-speed communication, control software, modeling, e-commerce, embedded firmware as well as the world of software development processes.
How much will a solution cost me?
Now that's a tough one. The simple answer is $85.00 an hour, but life is never simple. We discount our rates for non-profit organizations. We also charge premium rates for specialized work like embedded firmware development. Also, not all work is done by the hour. We may propose a fixed-cost solution depending on the situation.
How big is your company?
The company is formally only one person. However, the solution provided may involve "outsourcing" work to other individuals and companies in association with us. This is only done under a narrow set of circumstances. The outsourced work is done locally by individuals or companies that we have confidence will provide a quality solution and/or have a superior skill to our own.
What computer languages and tools do you use?
Quite a few. We work in several differect operating systems. Currently we are doing work in Windows 2000 and Windows XP, however we have worked in Windows 98, Windows NT, QNX and UNIX. We have not done work in any of the Mac systems. As for languages, we have worked in ADA, APL, ASM, C, C++, CGI, COBOL, ColdFusion, CSS, Fortran, HTML, Java, PHP, Pascal, SQL, Visual Basic and XML. Most databases use a flavor of SQL. We have worked in Access, MySQL, SQL Server 7, and SQL Server 2000. As for tools, we have used Borland IDE, Code Composer, Core FTP, Dreamweaver, FrontPage, the Microsoft Office Suite, Visual InterDev, Visual SourceSafe, Visual Studio, WSFTP.
